Dewey : Ponos Fine Dining

Ponos, meaning excellence in Hawaiian, is one of Dewey Beaches newest restaurants. I had dinner there last night and was so impressed that I had to write a quick blog this morning. For those of you who have not had the opportunity to visit the Hawaiian Islands, I can assure you that you will find no better substitute for food on the mainland than driving down to Dewey for a Five-Star dining experience.

My wife and I enjoyed an island favorite, Poke’, as our appetizer. The raw fish was tender with a marble red color, perfect! It reminded me of my time living in Hawaii when most football fans order up a few pounds before any local football game.

For dinner I ordered the Kona Coffee braised Short Ribs while my wife enjoyed a light white fish known as Opakapake. The fish was crusted over with Macadamian and cilantro. The taste was robust.

For dessert we ordered Tiramiso which was moist, rich and downright heavenly. The chef added a local flair by mixing in Lychee and coconut.

Overall, the fine dining experience was excellent! The customer service and friendliness were contagious as everyone was smiling, even though it was close to 10 pm. I would highly suggest taking a chance at this already classic Coastal Sussex eatery.
